Community guidelines
Last updated 2026-08-01.
These are the ground rules for listing a server, voting, and reporting on serverhive. They sit alongside our Terms of service, which cover the legal side of using the site.
- Keep public-facing text clean. A server's name, description, and tags are visible to every visitor browsing the directory, including on tag pages other than its own. Don't put sexual or explicit language in them regardless of what tags the server carries.
- Tag adult servers as NSFW. If a server's content is mainly sexual or otherwise adult, add the "nsfw" tag. Leaving it off to reach a wider audience gets the listing removed.
- Stay legal. Don't list a server that hosts or promotes anything illegal where you or the server is based, and don't use serverhive to get around Discord's own Community Guidelines or Terms of Service.
- Vote and bump by hand. Upvotes and bumps must come from a real person clicking the button themselves. Bots, scripts, alt accounts, or anything else that automates votes or bumps is not allowed.
- Don't pay for votes. Offering roles, currency, giveaways, or any other reward in exchange for an upvote or a bump defeats the point of the ranking and isn't allowed, even if the votes themselves are cast manually.
- List real communities. A listing should represent a server people can actually join and take part in. Don't list a server that exists only to redirect people to another server or link, or that has essentially no activity or content of its own.
- One account, one listing. Each Discord account may list a single server. Creating extra accounts to list more, or to reset a listing after it was removed, is a guidelines violation on top of being blocked technically.
- Report honestly. Use the report button for genuine problems with a listing. Repeated false or bad-faith reports can lead to restrictions on your own account.
Breaking these guidelines can get a listing edited or removed, or an account banned, at an administrator's discretion. See Terms of service for how enforcement and account deletion work.
